Greens

The Greens Department works with the Production Designer to coordinate, obtain, maintain and wrap any "greens" or natural vegetation used in studio, and on location.

Recommended Skills for working in the Greens Department:

  • General understanding and interest in art and design 

  • Enjoy working outdoors and be in good physical condition

  • Ability to imagine, research, plan and communicate an artistic vision within budget 

  • Organized, creative and able to solve problems

A combination of demonstrated skills such as basic landscaping, knowledge of common plant and tree species, basic carpentry, heavy equipment operation, basic rigging, ability to drive 1- ton and 5 - ton cube vans and landscape and power tools

+ Head Greens Person

The Head Greens Person coordinates, obtains, maintains and wraps any “greens” or natural vegetation used on studio and on location on the production. Tasks include managing the operation of heavy equipment, and organizing and delegating work within the department.

+ Greens Best/Lead Greens

The Greens Best/Lead Greens manages the greens equipment, the loading and unloading of material and equipment, dressing, maintenance, continuity and wrap of both interior and exterior greens.

+ Greens Assistant

The Greens Assistant performs duties as assigned by the Head Greens Person or Greens Best/Lead Greens.

+ Greens Crew

Greens Crew perform duties as assigned by the Head Greens Person or Greens Best/Lead Greens.

Minimum Qualifications for the Greens Department:

Non-Union Recommendations

  • Film Training Manitoba courses:

    • Set Orientation

    • WHMIS

    • Safety Awareness

  • Basic First Aid

  • Head or Lead Greens: Chainsaw Safety Certificate, Skid Steer Certificate, Aerial Boom Lift Ticket, Telehandler Certificate

  • Manitoba driver’s license

  • Resume
