First Aid/Craft Service (FACS)

The First Aid/Craft Service (FACS) Department is responsible for providing first aid and beverages, substantials and snacks on set.

Recommended Skills for working in the First Aid/Craft Service (FACS) Department:

  • Strong communications skills

  • Knowledge of the media production industry

  • Ability to react to changing schedules and problem-solve

  • Well-organized, reliable and calm under pressure

A combination of demonstrated skills such as first aid, cooking and food production, budgeting and shopping.

+ Key First Aid Craft Services (FACS)

The Key FACS is responsible for the purchase, rental, preparation, maintenance, cleaning and storage of all goods and equipment required by the First Aid/Craft Service Department. They must have a Safe Food Handling Certificate and appropriate First Aid certificate.

+ 1st Assistant First Aid Craft Services (FACS)

The 1st Assistant FACS assists the Key FACS. They must have a Safe Food Handling Certificate and appropriate First Aid certificate.

+ 2nd Assistant First Aid Craft Services (FACS)

The Second Assistant FACS assist the Key FACS and 1st Assistant FACS. They must have a Safe Food Handling Certificate and appropriate First Aid certificate.

+ Shopper/Crew

The Shopper (or Crew) is responsible for shopping, cleaning and stocking food. They must have a Safe Food Handling Certificate but are not obligated to have a First Aid certificate. They are supervised by the Key First Aid/Craft Services (FACS) and the 1st Assistant First Aid/Craft Services (FACS).

+ Set Medic

A Set Medic provides advanced first aid or advanced emergency medical assistance to individuals involved with TV or film productions. Other duties may include advising the production team on safety issues and Covid-19 Health & Safety protocols and procedures. The Set Medic is the first responder and the primary health resourse on set. Must be able to clearly fill out multiple medical reports and have proficient communication skills.
